Michael Ortiz is a Denver-based cinematographer and photographer. Since receiving his first point-and-shoot camera at 11 years old, he has found an unmatched passion in creating images, whether moving or still. He has been on more than 40 (and counting) independent and student film sets and has experience shooting and assisting with a wide array of cinema cameras including RED and ARRI cameras.
In December 2023, the film he shot, Family Reunion was nominated for 10 awards at the Colorado Film School Fall Student Showcase, eventually winning 5, including Best Picture. Since graduating from Colorado Film School in May 2024, he has been doing freelance work on camera teams and is currently in pre-production for an independent short film Emotional Toaster, which he will shoot in the summer of this year.
